Riding in his tenth annual Police Unity Tour this month, A.J. O’Connor Associates’ President, Andy O’Connor has clocked more than 3,000 miles while raising over $40,000 in support of Law Enforcement Officers killed in the line of duty.
Andy O’Connor, President of A.J. O’Connor Associates (AJO), participated in a landmark ride again this year, raising money and awareness for a charitable cause that he’s actively supported for the last ten years. The Police Unity Tour (PUT) is a 300+ mile ride that leaves East Hanover, NJ and arrives in Washington, DC three days later. This year 1,400 riders departed from NJ on May 9th to raise awareness for law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty, as well as to raise money for the National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington, DC.
In the last four years, Andy has served as a Marshall and he draws the following parallel between AJO’s executive coaching and leadership development work and the responsibilities he assumes during the PUT. Helping individuals and teams attain their goals is the common thread. Andy explains, “My role as a Marshall is to ride at the back of the pack and coach riders who are struggling, especially those riding for the first time who don’t know what to expect. Helping novice and struggling riders attain their goals is as rewarding as reaching my own.”
Andy started his career in the Florham Park Police Department and subsequently joined the NJ Attorney General’s Office for a combined fourteen years of service prior to joining AJO. Andy assumed the position of President in 1997 and he began participating in the Police Unity Tour in 2003. Click here for full release.
